I spent all of 2018 visiting 53 state parks across the United States. The idea was to spotlight a section of the American nature experience that is rarely studied in its totality. State parks share the same lineage as national parks, but they fly under the radar (except for noteworthy exceptions like Niagara Falls.) This summer the New York Times published my two-part series on state parks. I hope they get you planning your next state park adventure...
I'm thrilled to have contributed to the epic New York Times 52 Places To Go 2019! I did a small piece on the magnificent Elqui Valley in Chile, epicenter of the eclipse taking place on July 2.
Part 2 of my New York Times series on science tourism was published. This second of the two-part series features astronomy observatories in Chile, Los Angeles and Hawaii. I'm so grateful for the chance to do these two pieces. They were a joy to write and report.
